Finca Luna Nueva Lodge Workshop on Organic – Biodynamic Gardening

We are proud to be able to offer this workshop and volunteer travel program that features the Luna Nueva Biodynamic Model of Organic Gardening.

Finca Luna Nueva Lodge in the La Fortuna region of Costa Rica, not only the epicenter of biodynamic farming in the region, is also at the center of adventure travel in Costa Rica.  The Arenal Volcano, Lake Arenal, great mountain biking and whitewater rafting are all nearby

Finca Luna Nueva produces much of the Turmeric and Ginger for the New Chapter Brand of nutritional supplements, anti-inflammatory and constitution-building herbs.  The biodynamic – organic crops are extensive, but are practically invisible, as they are melded completely with the rainforest.  Your instructors will show you how to implement this non-invasive farming technique into  new communities.

The first three days you will enjoy an intensive exploration of  the foundations, farming methods, practical applications, and implementation necessities of the the model. Our instructors will facilitate your success in the project phase.

You will then travel to one of our service project sites.  We will be working together with locals on the implementation of the Model’s methods, helping these communities to have a more sustainable future as small-scale producers and Fair-Trade savvy sellers.

Whatever your skill set we welcome your energy and desire to have a fun and validating adventure vacation.  Adventure?  Yes!  We will find some fun along the way for sure, kayaking, hiking, wildlife discovery, canopy tours, and rafting are some of the adventures available in CR.

Day 1: Depart US.

Day 2: Arrival San Jose – Transfer to Finca Luna Nueva Lodge – Orientation

Days 2 – 5: Workshop and Garden Studies with Luna Nueva

Days 7-10:  The Project — Preparing organic gardens for the sustainability of geographically challenged communities in Central America, perhaps Belize, Panama, Nicaragua, or Honduras.

Day 11: Arrive in US

INCLUDED:    Accommodation as per itinerary (double-occupant at Luna Nueva Lodge and community center or home-stay on project), 3 meals a day, bilingual coordinator, local guides, all transportation, 24×7 in country support, project coordination, project     materials & donation, extra activities mentioned in the program. 1 chaperone included.

REQUIRED:
Good trekking shoes, warm clothing for cool nights, clothing for hot days, sun block, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit, sleeping bag.

PHYSICAL FITNESS:
This trip does not require a high level of physical fitness, however physical activity is involved in the project and optional hikes.
