Costa Rica Voluntourism Edventure – Sacred Seeds Challenge “Semillas Sagradas”

We are proud to be able to offer this workshop and volunteer travel program that features the Luna Nueva  Model for Biodynamic & Organic Gardening combined with the Luna Nueva/New Chapter Seed Savers Program and Seed Saver’s Sanctuary.  Take the Seed Savers Challenge!

The first two days you will attend an intensive on the combined Biodynamic Organic Farming and Seed Savers models.  This vital program has the potential to make you a key figure in preserving species biodiversity in a world more and more threatened by species loss.  This is the Challenge:  take what you learn and move it out into the world.  You will become familiar with the specific educational and practical components that are key to your project’s implementation.

As a part of the program we offer, after the seminar component you will then have the opportunity to travel to one of our sites and be able to apply your new  skills  in one of our sustainability and seed collection projects.

We will be working together with locals on the implementation of the Models’ methods, helping these communities to have a more sustainable future as small-scale producers and Fair-Trade savvy sellers.  Whatever your skill set we welcome your energy and desire to have a fun and validating adventure vacation.

Adventure too?  Yes!  We will find some fun along the way for sure, kayaking, hiking, wildlife discovery, canopy tours, and rafting are some of the adventures we might enjoy in CR and the project host country.

Seed Savers Sanctuary – The Sacred Seeds Challenge

Itinerary (for a detailed itinerary click here):

Day 1: Depart US and Arrival in San Jose, Costa Rica.  Transfer to Finca Luna Nueva Lodge. Welcome banquet and evening introductions, ice breakers and orientation.

Day 2 – 3: Workshop and Garden Studies with Luna Nueva and New Chapter

Days 4 – 14:  The Project – The Sacred Seeds Sanctuary  Seed Savers Expedition.

Day 15: Arrive in US

INCLUDED:    Accommodation as per itinerary (double-occupant at Luna Nueva Lodge and community center or home-stay on project), 3 meals a day, bilingual coordinator, local guides, all transportation with the exception of arrival and departure flights, 24×7 in country support, project coordination, project     materials & donation, extra activities mentioned in the program. 1 chaperone included for groups over 12.

REQUIRED:
Good trekking shoes, warm clothing for cool nights, clothing for hot days, sun block, sunglasses, hat, swimsuit, sleeping bag.

PHYSICAL FITNESS:
This trip does not require a high level of physical fitness, however physical activity is involved in the project and optional hikes.
